To everyone who joined us for our Project 2020 Visioning Forum #1 on January 14th (to see visual report, click on the image below), and to anyone else who wants to join us for Forum #2, please pencil in Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at Bayside Middle School. Stay tuned for all of the details, but our plan is to build on what we have learned in our four thematic areas:
- Values and Connection
- Strengths
- Opportunities
- Looking Forward (Vision)
Before we meet again, we need your help to make sure we got it right. Please click HERE to take a survey where you will rank how important each of the findings is to you. For example, we heard that relationships are key to our success, as is intelligent uses of technology, flexible scheduling, honouring diversity, and more. We have narrowed it down to 16 key themes like those, a few within each of the four areas listed above. Click on the link to the survey; it will only take you a few minutes and you would be helping us be ready for the next step in our visioning process.
All of this community dialogue is important for its own sake. In many ways the journey is the reward, and what we each got from the first forum attests to that. But at the same time there is a destination beyond the benefits of collaboration, and that is the development of a new five-year strategic plan for the Board of Education. What is in that plan will shape the Board's policy and financial decisions for the next generation of learners, so this work we are all doing together is important, destined to make a difference.
