Info for Students…

A message from the Principal, Ms. MacDonald: I had the privilege to attend the Whistler 2018 Con Brio Music Festival with Ms. Aitchison and her Gr. 8 Master Band. They performed three pieces for the festival and were adjudicated. Results were picked up by Ms. Aitchison and they were awarded GOLD. Congratulations to our Gr. 8 Master Band for working hard and being a strong and supporting community for each other!

Last week, as you are aware, our Gr. 6 and Gr. 7 Bands attended a festival in which they both received GOLD. Congratulations to our Gr. 6, 7 & 8 Bands – first time in Bayside history for all three grade levels to bring home golds in the same year!

Lost cell phone – A friendly Bayside neighbour has lost his black iphone 6 nearby and is hoping someone here may have found it. He is offering a cash reward upon return. If you have any information to share, please come by the office.

With the WE ARE SILENT event only 3 days away, it’s time to bring in your $5.00 to get signed up with your homeroom teacher, if you haven’t done so already. You can even sponsor a friend by paying $5.00 for them to take on the challenge. Remember, each student who participates will get to be in a draw for a Mayfair Mall gift card. Let’s see how quiet we can make Bayside this Thursday.

Have you ordered your Bayside Yearbook yet? Deadine to order is April 30th. Check the office window to see if your name is on the list for having pre-ordered. The cost is $35. Don’t miss out, as quantities are limited.

On Tues Apr 24th, Wed Apr 25th and Fri Apr 27th some students from Div 76 will be raising money for dogs in need. All proceeds will go to Mex-Can dog rescue. Mex-Can is a team that rescues dogs in Mexico and brings them to Victoria to find a better home. Come to E107 during recess and lunch to guess the amount of candy in the jars. Cost to guess for smaller jars is $0.75 for one or $1.25 for two; for bigger jars, $1.00 for one or $1.50 for two. See you tomorrow for your first chance to guess!

Hey Bayside, BMK Burgers are selling again every Tuesday for the next four weeks. $5.00 for a bacon cheeseburger and $4.50 for a regular burger. Don’t miss out!

Girls Rugby – Quick meeting in Mme Levesque’s room Tuesday at 12:30.

Boys Rugby – Congratulations to the team on an impressive victory over Glanford last Thursday. The boys play GNS and SMUS at home this Thursday.

Track & Field – All students interested in participating in Track & Field this year, please attend a meeting TODAY at lunch in E114. If you want to throw discus or shotput on the Track & Field team, come to the equipment room at lunch TODAY. Runners: Practice will start Tuesday after school. See Mr. Papich with any questions.

Youth in Action – Important meeting TODAY at 12:15 in W108. Bring your lunch.

Band Announcements – Instrumental masterclass sectionals during Reading Block TODAY are for the Gr. 6 Brass (French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, and Tuba). Students need to bring their instrument, band book/music and a pencil.
