Are you a Parent of a grade 8 student transitioning into Stelly’s next school year?

For more than 10 years now, the Stelly’s PAC and community businesses have supported a volunteer run breakfast program that is open to all students.

We are actively looking for parent volunteers for the 2018/2019 school year. Please consider getting involved in the Stelly’s community by helping with this great program!

Breakfast Club Information:

The Stelly’s Breakfast Program is a volunteer run program that sets up in the school foyer every morning at 7:30 am and runs until the bell rings at 8:30am. We provide toasted bagels with butter, cream cheese and jam, instant oatmeal, juice boxes, hot chocolate and tea. All items are priced at 25 cents for students. The Stellys breakfast program is open to the entire student body. We are here for those that take before timetable classes, for those that accidently slept in or occasionally choose to sleep 10 minutes longer in lieu of breakfast, for those in financial need, and for those that just want to have breakfast with their friends. It is our mission to help all hungry tummies became happy tummies for more effective learning.

This program is generously funded by the community. The following are our longest running supporters: the Peninsula Co-op, Saanichton, Thrifty foods, and the members of the Stellys Parent Association. Other supports have been Island Savings and St. Stephens Anglican Church.

We depend on community volunteers to serve breakfast. Young Life Youth Group has been volunteering with our program once a week for more than 10 years. We usually have Leadership students serving once a week. The rest of the days are typically run by parents. A volunteer shift starts at 7:30 am is finished by 9am.

In addition to morning volunteers the program needs a coordinator to communicate with volunteers and administration staff, order supplies and apply for funding. This position can easily be shared to lighten the commitment. The current coordinator will be celebrating the graduation of her youngest child this year but is willing to work together with a new coordinator for the first two months of the 2018/2019 school year for a smooth transition.
