Message from the PAC President:
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! We are well into the new school year and hope everyone has settled in nicely! The PAC has lots of great things underway so far this year and we hope that you can join us on Tuesday, October 18th at 6:15 pm for our next meeting! This meeting is particularly important as we will be considering new funding requests for possible approval in this year’s spending and talking about some fabulous upcoming events.
As parents of Bayside, and members of the PAC, you are always welcome to submit a funding request for something you’d like to see at the school! Please complete the form attached and plan to attend the meeting to back up your request. We look forward to discussing your proposal!
Some of the funding proposals require more thought and consideration; but generally, PAC reserves two meetings a year to review funding requests. These are October and February. The teachers have all been asked to submit their special requests for this part of the year that are over and above classroom and field trip funding that has already been approved as part of their budget.
As you know, Middle School is busy, and as we want to focus on our short time at Bayside, the PAC does not want to be consumed with fundraising. The PAC instead wants to have a few fun events through the year that bring our school together, and raise some money at the same time. To that end, our budget has been built with conservative numbers for fundraising. We know that parents are busy fundraising for band trips, Quebec trips and Grade 8 farewells, plus all kinds of other very important things. As your PAC, we want to focus on our school community instead of fundraising!
To that end, we thank you for your generous support of our Welcome Back BBQ that was very well attended and supported! We also have our first clothing order in production with some new Shark toques coming soon too! The first of many fun PAC hot lunches is coming up on October 25th which will be the Spooky Spaghetti Lunch! Watch for details and how you can pre-order to save a bit! November and December will bring lots of action in the school and, as the PAC, we just want to support it all as best we can! We need to hear from parents! Keep in touch! Come to a meeting and/or send us an email! We would love to hear from you on how collectively we can keep this school great!
