What an incredible night at Bayside Middle School to celebrate our culture and unveil this fabulous gift to the school from the PAC of a totem carved by local carver, Mark Henry! The kids came up with the Bear for Strength, the Otter for playfulness and the Orcas for Team! So amazing!
Thanks to all of the staff at Bayside, all of the fabulous volunteers who put this event together, our honored guests from the local community and some corporate donors to the cause of Thrifty Foods Saanichton, Fresh Cup Saanichton, Fairway Market Brentwood and Butchart Gardens who all donated to the event or the totem in some special way!
Special thanks to the First Nations teachers who worked with some very passionate students at Bayside who came up with their own song to share and some very powerful reasons for why this totem is so very special for Bayside!!
We are all so very proud to be part of such an amazing community!!
