Middle School Reporting
by Bayside School - Friday, 11 October 2019, 12:23 PM

In the next few weeks interim reports will be shared at middle schools in Saanich.  At this time, teachers will be connecting with families to provide a current snapshot of your child’s progress.  This communication could take many forms. Teachers will be providing communication by email, phone, parent-teacher interview or with a written interim report.

All middle schools have worked together to create a standard interim template.  This interim may be one of the first times you see the BC Ministry of Education Proficiency Scale. In Saanich, as with other districts around the province, we will no longer be evaluating middle school students using letter grades.  All Saanich middle schools will be changing our assessment practices to reflect the BC Ministry of Education guidelines for communication of learning.

More detailed information about changes to our assessment practice will be provided by:

  • Parent letter from our Director of Instruction (October 23rd)

  • School-based PAC meetings

  • District-wide parent information at Bayside Middle School on November 5th at 7:00 pm

Educational research has demonstrated that positive on-going communication between home and school is instrumental to student success.  Providing you with a snapshot of your child’s progress at this time helps us work together to help our students accomplish their learning goals.
