On Orange Shirt Day we remember the 150 thousand children taken from their families and cultures and sent to residential schools for over 100 years of Canada's history. Four thousand children never came home having died at these schools from illness, abuse, and malnutrition. An orange shirt was chosen for Sep 30th because Phyllis Webstad was one of these children. At 6 years old she was sent to a residential school. Proud to wear her new orange shirt that her grandmother purchased for her, the new shirt was taken from her as she was forced to wear a uniform. Her beloved orange shirt was not returned. When we wear an orange shirt we are remembering these lost and bullied children but we are also saying EVERY CHILD MATTERS regardless of their skin colour, culture, and beliefs. Together we are stronger!
New Bayside Spiritwear will be on sale, with display sample sizes in the Gallery at lunchtime, from Oct. 2nd-6th.
Congratulations to the Gr. 6 Boys Soccer team on two very well played games against Gordon Head and Royal Oak, in yesterday's tournament.
Congratulations to all Cross Country runners who competed yesterday at Lambrick Park. Your Sharks put on a courageous performance under sweltering conditions. Way to go team!

Instrumental masterclass sectionals during Reading Block TODAY are for the Gr. 6 & 7 Clarinets (Clarinet & Bass Clarinet). Students need to bring their instrument, band book/music and a pencil.

Please join Bayside's PAC and Administration for a very informative night about the new curriculum, restorative practices and healthy middle schoolers on Tues. Oct. 3Rd from 6-7pm. Refreshments will be served!
Attention Gr. 6 Parents: Watch for immunization consent packages for grade 6 students that will be sent home soon. Students in grade 6 will be offered immunizations in school-based clinics with the consent of a parent(s) or representative. Please review and return your student’s consent package as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Peninsula Health Unit at 250-544-2400 and ask to speak with a Public Health Nurse.
