The recording for our piece Celtic Air and Dance No 2, has been added to the sound files. Students should be listening to it regularly and practicing with it at home. In class this week we worked on reviewing basic routines and expectations in the band room for class and masterclass. Grade 8 band students completed a Theory Review Quiz, Rhythmic Dictee, and Concert Bb playing test (3rds, triplets, or chords). In masterclass students received the music for Variations on a English Folk Tune. Master class sectionals start promptly at 12:55pm which means students should arrive at around 12:50 to set up and get ready to play. This is part of the overall band mark and material covered during masterclass is not covered in band class. Monday is Clarinet and Bass Clarinet, Tuesday is Flutes, Wednesday is all Brass and Bass, Thursday is Percussion and Glockenspiel, and Friday is all Saxophones (alto, tenor, and bari). A new monthly practice card was distributed to students this week. The goal is to practice 16-20X each month for 30 minutes each session. Practice cards will be collected at the end of the month and must be signed by the parents to be evaluated. No-name practice cards and no-signature practice cards will not be accepted.
