Morning Announcements

Thursday, June 22, 2017

Info for Students…

  • To celebrate National Aboriginal Day (week), Bayside is hosting a daily morning announcement all week, with a fact and question of the day. Everyone can participate in answering the question of the day in order to enter a draw on this Friday for a free t-shirt designed by a local Indigenous artist.

Today's Fact of the Day: This territory that we are sitting on at the moment was occupied by many First Nations people for thousands of years. For example, the place Tod Inlet was and is well known as SṈITȻEȽ which is part of the territory where there were many traditional First Nations homes that we now know as “big houses”. Long plank homes with firest to light the home and to cook meals in the traditional home of the local First Nations.

Question of the Day: What type of tree is considered the “Tree of Life” amongst most Indigenous Peoples? (Remember to enter your guess in the cultural room)

  • Lost & Found – Please look through our vast display of lost and found items in the hall outside the office. Smaller and more valuable items are kept in the office, come ask if you have lost anything and don't see it in the display. Any items not claimed will be donated to charity on June 29th.
