Students should practice for 30 mins 3-4X each week outside of class/masterclass. 

-Focus on warming up for 10 minutes on the first five notes learned in a variety of rhythms including whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes. Brass should use the Bandmate Chromatic Tuner app (it's free on all devices and absolutely crucial to finding the exact pitch on a brass instrument). Flute, Trombone, Baritone, Mallets: Bb, C, D, Eb, F

Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Trumpet: C, D, E, F, G

Alto Saxes: G, A, B, C, D

French Horn: F, G,A, Bb, C 

-Then review (for about 10 minutes) the material covered in the TOE band book pages 6-9. Play along with the recordings found here: http://kjos.com/ips/

-Lastly spend the remaining 10 minutes practicing our Winter Concert music (concert is December 8th at 7pm and December 9th Block 1). 

-each instrument section has been learning a piece with their masterclass specialist teacher

We will also play a piece out of our Traditions Of Excellence Book (to be determined).

Band marks so far include

-Attendance and Preparation for Band and Masterclass

-Daily Participation

-Band Karate playing tests- white, yellow and orange beads (complete in class, retests available at recess/lunch/before school/after school)

-Theory: Worksheet #1 (staff and clef--both sides), Care of Instrument sheet, Rhythm Counting and Note naming sheet.
