Welcome to all our returning students and their families, and to students and families who are joining us at Bayside Middle School for the first time this 2016/17 school year. We hope that the following information will be helpful to you and we look forward to seeing you — here's to a great year!

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2016 - FIRST DAY PROCEDURES:

  • 8:30 am: Students arrive at Bayside and wait at the front of the school. They will be invited into the school by grade level. They will meet their teacher and follow them to the classroom.

  • Students do not require a lunch.

  • Students should NOT bring all their supplies on the first day.

  • Please do not send payment for fees on the first day of school.

  • 10:00 am: Dismissal time.

  • 10:15 am: Buses depart to take students home.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS - We are on track with the Bayside roof replacement. Phase 1 will continue to the end of October/early November. Phase 2 will occur next summer. As a result of construction areas and limited parking (we do not have access to one of our two staff parking lots), we encourage parents to drop students off on Wallace or another nearby area, but not to drive on to Newton Place. If you are picking up your son/daughter after school on the first day, we recommend coming after 10:15 am as that is when the buses depart. Or plan to meet your son or daughter on Wallace or another nearby area. There will be limited parking and turning around on Newton Place due to construction areas, work crew vehicles, and machinery. After 2-3 weeks into the school year, some of the construction areas and machinery will no longer be needed which should ease some of the congestion issues. Due to limited parking, our PAC will not have the welcome back tea/coffee time on this first shortened day of school; instead, Bayside PAC invites you to attend the BBQ/Meet the Teacher Evening on Thursday, 15 September .

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 – SECOND DAY PROCEDURES:

Regular hours resume: Welcome Bell: 8:22 am*

Instruction Begins: 8:30 am

Dismissal: 2:33 pm

*Grade 6 students only have early entrance at 8:17 through the East Pod doors, all year long.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS -Your child will bring home very important information the first week. Please read this information, complete and return the forms as soon as you can. We appreciate your cooperation in doing this as so much of the start-up material is designed for the safety and well-being of your children.
