This year we are making an adjustment to the Band registration process for students going from Grade 7 to 8! As our numbers have been growing from year to year, we are no longer sending paperwork home requesting students to re-register for band for the coming school year. Instead, we are automatically registering all current Grade 7 Band students into the Band 8 classes for 2014-15. This means if your son/daughter is taking band this year, it will remain in his/her timetable next year! No more worry of a waitlist!
If your family is moving, there is a form to fill out to withdraw your child from the band program, thus leaving a position available for another incoming band student. Please contact Mrs Aitchison prior to May 15 to ensure that we have the correct information going into the planning for the 2014-2015 timetable.
If your son/daughter is really unhappy to continue band, please have him/her see Mrs Aitchison in person so that I can try to solve the situation. Sometimes it can be frustration with the "wrong" instrument or being in a class without friends...both of which I can assist with solving.
Lastly, if your son/daughter has a friend whom wishes to join band for the coming year, we are currently accepting applications and will fill positions as they come available. Those students wishing to join Band 8 for 2014-15 need to see Mrs Aitchison to obtain a registration form.
