What a fantastic day the gr. 8 Band had yesterday performing at the four elementary feeder schools! Way to represent Bayside and encourage kids to sign up for Band!!! I arrived at work today to find 24 students had already signed up to take band next year! Impressive. Hopefully we end up with at least 60 students for 2 classes, but 90 students in Grade 6 Band like this year would be amazing! If you know of an upcoming Grade 6 Bayside student, please encourage them to return their pink registration form to the Bayside office asap to avoid disappointment. No experience necessary!!

Grade 8's will spend the remainder of this month focusing on the Whistler festival music: Black Forest Overture, Annabel Lee, Sousa on Parade, along with the massed band pieces: Con Brio March and Where Mountains Touch the Sky. Please encourage your child to practice with the recordings of all these pieces as there are still some challenging spots for notes and rhythms...we are aiming for a GOLD rating this year! It takes dedication and practice from all members of the band! I know we can do it!!
